After seeing this record around the record bins for years, I finally got Ian Hunter "You're Never Alone With A Schizophrenic". Drummer, Max Weinberg played on this...you know, "The Boss's" guy. I usually don't get into that dude too much, but I like what he does for this record and I can't get enough of this these past few days!
I also got ELO's Greatest Hits. Some of the songs that aren't Evil Woman and Livin' Thing (we hear enough of those on classic rock radio) are pretty good! It sounds like Jeff Lynne fucking LOVED the Beatles...it's like if they never broke up, they might have sounded like this stuff, especially Mr. Blue Sky. Dude must've been real psyched to be in the Travelling Willburys, ha ha.
Curiosity got the best of me and I bought a Leon Redbone record, Double Time. I remember him from when I was a kid in the 80's, I guess. Dude did the theme song to Mr. Belvedere, and was just kind of all around "famous". You'd just know what he looked like 'n shit, but not really know much else. He always seemed like he was 80 years old or something, but he was apparently only in his mid twenties when he recorded his first few records.
The shit sounds awesome. It sounds like Tin Pan Alley type shit, and I'm really into this record. It sounds all warm....like tube gear and ribbon mikes....you know what I mean.... and good songs too. I like it.
